01 / The fishing situation

THE PROBLEM.

A shallow-water swimbait needs to start working immediately, stay weedless around cover, and keep producing a readable signal as retrieve speed changes.

02 / The purpose-built response

THE CBC ANSWER.

Chernobyl Minnow uses one dominant center paddle for heavy thump and two independent satellite paddles for faster secondary flicker. The streamlined nose and dorsal point pocket help it move cleanly through shallow cover.

Why it works

The benefit behind the build

WHY IT WORKS.

Chernobyl Minnow uses three independent paddles without webbing. The larger center paddle supplies the slow, heavy thump while two smaller tails begin moving sooner and flicker faster as retrieve speed changes.

A shallow dorsal point pocket shields a Texas-rigged hook, the streamlined nose deflects vegetation, and the belly relief helps the body collapse. It is built for weedless presentations around shallow cover.

WHEN TO THROW IT.

  • Grass beds

Hook and presentation

HOW TO RIG IT.

A weightless Texas rig is recommended. Skin-hook the point in the dorsal pocket and fish it unweighted over pads and shallow grass; add light weight only when depth or wind demands it. No wire or fiber weed guard is required.

Hook reference: Designed around a VMC 7316 size 3/0 hook.
